Ph.D. position at the Universitäte Mainz, Germany
We are seeking to fill a Ph.D. position at the Institut fuer Geowissenschaften, Universität Mainz. The project consists of U/Pb age determinations of rutile and other accessory phases. A central focus will be the analysis of detrital minerals in sediments and metasediments. The successful candidate will perform field work in central Australia and conduct extensive geochemical analyses using a range of facilities (electron microprobe, laser ablation-ICP-MS, micro-Raman). The doctorate student will be fully funded for 3 years by the DFG (German Science Council).
The applicant should have practical knowledge of (1) sedimentary/metamorphic petrology and/or (2) modern analytical techniques in geochemistry. A degree in mineralogy, geochemistry or geology is required.
